A glimpse back.....and forward....

Remember the Edelweiss card I made for one of Melanie Muenchinger's Challenges awhile back? I got to thinking, my mom loved that card, because of grandma, so I thought, I should make her a frame with lyrics to the entire song on it for her Birthday (which was just before Christmas).  The frame is 5X7 and I did the lyrics on my computer. I stamped the flower images on Rasberry Tart DSP (new from Stampin Up) with Versamark, and then heat embossed them with black embossing powder. Did a little matting, a little ribbon. and it was completed. I really enjoyed making this project, not only because it continued to bring back memories of my grandma, it was something i know my mom will appreciate for years to come.

Just My Style - Dec 28th Gina K Challenge

Here is my card submission for the December 28th Gina K challenge, "Off Kilter". I used Rupa's Retro Boutique Set for this challenge.  I can't wait to play with this set some more, I picked it up at the One of A Kind Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo last month @ Gina's Booth.

The full recipe can be found HERE

I'm trying to post hyper links to the sets I use, where the challenges are posted, etc. so if they don't work bear with me, I'm still learning! Despite having a Computer Programming degree, I'm not quite perfect at blogging with hyperlinks and all that good stuff! Thanks!

What a RAK....

Hello, I wanted to share this awsome RAK I received from Rae Anne (Huera90) on SCS. There is a group of 40 or so of us ladies that hang out on SCS together, and they've all become a long-distance family to me. We talk about stamping of course, but then there is the everyday chit-chat (lately it's been about the weather - since so many of us are getting buried in snow, ice, and anything else the last few days). Rae Anne maintains a list of addresses of everybody, and then e-mails out an updated list every 2-3 months (or sooner as needed). She usually mails me a hard copy since I have issues downloading .xls files on my mac. This time, she made me an address book and organized all the addresses. My jaws dropped to the floor when I saw this, it's so beautiful and it makes me tear up to know someone would take so much time and effort to make this for me. It's something I will cherish for a long time. :-)

Here is the 3rd card I did for the Gina K Challenge over the weekend (yes I am a bit challenged out right now ~ LOL!) The trees are from Trees Silhouettes (Gina K) and the sentiment is from Crazy for Christmas (Gina K). The sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink, and then I sponged over it with Riding Hood Red. The background paper is from the "I Wish" SU Scrappin Kit.

Merry and Bright

Tonight I'm posting another Gina K Challenge Card I made for this month's releases. For this challenge, we had to use a monochromatic color scheme, so I chose this background paper from Basic Grey (Wassail) and paired it up with Riding Hood Red and Close to Cocoa (my neutral). The sentiment is from SU All Year Cheer I (retired). The Reindeer image (from Rupa's "The Magic of Christmas" ~ Gina K Designs) was stamped in versamark, then embossed with SU Gold Glory powder.

Hi all,

A late post tonight, this is a card I made for Melanie's Pre-Gina K Release Party Challenge on Paper Craft Planet. Melanie's challenge was to create a card inspired by a special moment or event in your life. This card is a result of one of my many memories I have of my Grandma Rust, who loved to sing Edelweiss. It was one of her favorite songs (if not her favorite) even now, when I hear the song somewhere I can't help but think of her. The stamp set is "A Year of Flowers" which is one of the sets Melanie designed for Gina K Designs. I did the verse on my computer and printed it out on my printer. the DSP is all from SU. The silver flowers also remind me of my grandma, in her later years she wore a lot of jewelry. Once she got in the nursing home, she started wearing jewelry (sometimes 4 or 5 bracelets at a time) I think she wanted to look like the prettiest resident in the facility (which we thought she always did anyways!)

This is what I came up with for the Taylored Expressions Sketch for this weekend. I took the sketch and made a little box out of it instead of a card. WSC67

Hello! Here is the card I made for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge (#67). I'm still playing with the new SU Set Love You Much. I've pretty much decided I really do like this set. Another new item on this card is the White Cardstock, which is by PaperTreyInk (PTI) One of my SCS buddies sent me it as one of "her favorite things". It's thicker than SU Whisper White, and is really nice!

I have another brand of white cardstock to try, and that's 120lb Gina K Designs Luxury Cardstock. I picked it up (along with a few other new things!)  last night at the One of A Kind Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo.

Recipe:
Stamps: Love You Much (SU)
Paper: PTI White, Close to Cocoa, Candy Lane DSP, Loves Me DSP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
Access: Sponges, Ticket Corner Punch, Chocolate Twill Ribbon, Pink Gingham Ribbon, Circle Punches, Dimensionals

Quick Box of Cards...

Here is my creation for today, must have had the mojo going because I put this together in about an hour. The box directions are below:

Start with a 4" X11.5 Sheet of Riding Hood Red Cardstock. Score the long ways at 4", 5", 9" and 10". The 1.5" on the end is your "lid", although I added a 2" X 2.5" strip to it to make it larger. The sides of the box have a 2"X4" piece of Riding Hood Red Cardstock, scored the short ways at 1/2" and 1.5". The 2 skinny 1/2" ends I applied red sticky tape and then adhered them to the inside of the front and back of the box.

The cards are 3X3.

The full recipe is below:
Stamps: Love You Much
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette
Access; SU Scallop Edge Punch, SU Scallop Circle Punch, Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, Pink Pirroette Striped Ribbon, Silver Brads, Dimensionals, Swiss Dots A2 Embossing Folder, Cuttlebug, Chocolate Chip Twill Ribbon (retired).

Trees Silhouettes

Good evening!

I made this card over the weekend for JessJean's Gina K Designs Sketch Challenge. The tree images are part of Trees Silhouettes set, which is the buy 3 get 1 free set for the November 08 release. The Hello image, and the leaves stamped on the Creamy Caramel panel are from another Gina K set called Autumn Leaves. I love Gina K's sets for this very reason, you can mix and match a lot of the sets on your cards and projects.

I do have some exciting news, this weekend is the One of A Kind Rubber Stamp & Scrapbook Expo at the Alliant Energy Center here in town. Friday night there is a vendor Make & Take Market that I am going to. There will be 20 make-n-takes to do, plus of course shopping! And I'm meeting a fellow SCS'er BarbaraLynn at the event. So excited! Gina K Designs is one of the vendors too! :)

OK, off to stamp for awhile! Hugs ~ LJ

Gina K November Release Challenge #1

Gina K's November Release Party on SCS was Thursday night, and the first challenge was to create a scrapbook page using the sketch that Erika provided. I haven't done a scrapbook page in about 10 months, but I had this idea in my head with Melanies "Just So Sporty" set I wanted to try out with some badger photos. Hope you like it! :)

The new sets are great, dad took me to Gina K's store in McFarland on Friday, and I got "my cuppa joe", "have a cookie", "tee talk", and "trees silhouettes" (free set). I can't wait to play with them. I spent most of the morning cutting them up :)

Monday, November 10, 2008

I haven't done any stamping yet today despite being off work but here's a card I made yesterday morning for a sketch challenge for Hanna Stamps.

I used Football Riley, which was sent to me by Miss KelliJo. :) Isn't he cute???  I colored him in Prismacolor Premier Markers.

The more I use these markers the more I love them. I just need to get more colors....

My off day was pretty good, aside from the temperature lurking around 30 degrees for the high. I went to my LSS, went to visit my aunt down the street, and now I'm baking peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

I think I am going to curl up on the couch and watch a few episodes of season 2 of Friday Night Lights to finish off the evening....

Stay warm!

Lookie what I got!

No, not WitchyBella (although I do love her)!  I have my own watermark. Daiseyfreak (from SCS) dear DH Chris made this watermark for me. OMG when I first saw it I thought "That is sooo me!" The card I made for a swap awhile back, and I don't think I ever got around to posting it on here. Be sure to check out Joy's blog Crazy for Daisies. Chris made her the coolest signature (he's quite the computer techie wizard!)  And Joy is an awsome stamper.....she makes the cutest stuff (and is the queen of winning stamping challenges).

Frosty Day Tags

Good evening all ~

Just wanted to do a quick post to night and show you something I have been working on for a SCS swap, this is the tag for Kate's Holiday Tag and Bag swap. I'm making 11 of these tags.  the snowflake is a nestability die that I Picked up at HL with my 40% off coupon recently. I so love the fact these can be layered.

Ok, I'm off for the evening, got one more 10-hour day to go and then a four-day weekend. :) Scott is coming from Milwaukee to visit as it's Homecoming weekend for the UW and we are going to a few badger sports events Saturday (football and hockey) So I'll try to post at least Friday and Sunday :)

And a quickie note on a new discovery this morning on the non-stamping side of life, I found out that Starbucks has the most wonderful Hot Chocolate! :) I have a feeling I am going to making a stop there on these colder fall mornings to get a little warm-up....

The images, DP, Ribbon, Brads!!!! It all coordinates so well!  I added some of my own black to the card. I colored in the image with my SU Markers.

LSC188 Pretty Flowers

Here is my card for this week's Limited Supply Challenge - No embellishments. At first when I saw the rules of what we COULD use, I was thinking "there is no way I can do a card without ribbon!" Then I looked at Melanie's new Gina K Designs Release, "A Year of Flowers" and my mind started working away. All of the images are stamped with Timber Brown Stazon, and the colored in with Prismacolor Markers and cut out. Two of the Three flowers are popped up to give the card some dimension. And then I made a faux bow at the bottom of the card with DSP and card stock...

Hugs ~~~ LJ

Friday, October 3, 2008

This is the second card I made tonight for the Gina K Challenge. For this card I used two of the new sets I got tonight. The flower image is from "A Year of Flowers" and the sentiment is from "Warm & Cozy Christmas". The challenge was to use red. white, and a 3rd color of your choice. I used Always Artichoke. The flower images in this set are really beautiful, and I really like the large size. I don't have a lot of large flower images, so this was a really good set for me to get.

Have a good night! Hugs LJ
Here is the first of two more cards I made for the Gina K Challenges for the October Release. I was so happy today, Dad drove me to the Gina K Store in McFarland so I could get some of the new releases to play with! :-) I got: Winter Foliage, warm & cozy Christmas, Say It With Flowers, and A Year of Flowers. The card above uses the Winter Foliage set, which is the 'Buy Three Get One Free" set for the October Release. The challenge for this card was the sketch. I gold embossed the images of the Sahara Sand Panel, and the sentiment on the circle punch-out. The ribbon is also new from Gina K (Pure Luxury Ribbon). All of the ribbon is so pretty in this collection. I'll have to get more :)

Gina K Release Party Challenge

Good Morning! Gina K Designs had a release party last night, and I came up with this card for one of the challenges, which was to use glossy paper with the CB Embossing Folders, and use either a brayer or sponge to apply ink to it. I used sponges for a more subtle look. The stamp is from Whimsical Autumn by Carolyn King for Gina K Designs. The green DSP is called Festive Finery, which SU had out a few years ago, it's one of my favorite DSPs. I actually am out of Always Artichoke, which is why I used the DSP instead.

SC195 - Jolly Santa

I decided to go back and try last weeks' SCS Sketch Challenge. I used the "I Wish" Simply Scrappin Kit from SU. I really need to start playing with this kit. it's one of my new favorites. I ordered it right away when the new catalog came out and it just sat in the package for awhile. The stamp set is "A Holly Jolly Holiday" which is also SU. The Santa image is popped up on dimensionals, the tree is stamped directly on Whisper White. I had "issues" with this sketch. I tried to "wing it" on the measurements of the 3 square panels, and then realized it would be easier to go by the sample on SCS (lesson learned - LOL),

Have a great night!

Hugs ~ LJ

cc186 Really Chocolate Breezes

I made this card for todays color challenge (Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, and Baja Breeze. I added the Vanilla and Au Chocolate (retured) DSP. For stamps I used Eastern Blooms and Bella Blooms (sentiment). This is the first challenge I did since coming back from vacation. These colors remind me of fall. It was only 60 degrees here today, and some of the leaves are changing color. We saw a lot of fall foliage on the east coast last week.

Have a great night!

Hugs ~ LJ

Back and Ready to Stamp

I'm home sweet home from vacation! What a WONDERFUL trip we had, going to 8 ball-games, along with sightseeing in NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, And Washington DC. I wish I would have been able to post more while I was on the road as planned, but I opted not to take the laptop with me and the hotel internet prices were crazy. Anyzoo, I am back home safe and sound (and happy to have my stamping haven back!) Here is the first project I worked on after getting back this morning, I had these OTC boxes I received in the mail from another swap and wanted to make a box using Whimsical Autumn (designed by Carolyn King for Gina K Designs). The leaves were colored in with WWC and Blender Pens, the Squirrel I colored in with my Prismacolor Markers.

More to come later ~~~

Day 1

Having problems posting the image, Day 1 was great! Went to Yankee Stadium for a 1:05 matinee against the Orioles! Was scoreless until the Yankees won in the bottom of the 9th! Baseses Loaded with two outs.....After game we came back to our hotel in Newark NJ and had a wonderful dinner. Our bus is full for the most part (4 empty seats I think) And all the folks are really nice.

Tomorrow is the BIG game - FINAL GAME AT YANKEE STADIUM. We depart at 8:45 am in the morning for a tour of Ellis Island & The Statue of Liberty.

I'm on a time clock with the PC here at the hotel so I'll make this post a short one.....

The Wait is Over...

I'm taking a break from stamping for a week, but hopefully not from blogging. I have another "love" in my life, and that happens to be baseball.  Today I am headed out to the east coast for what will probably be one of the most cherished weeks I will ever have. I am headed out to NYC for the last games at Yankee Stadium. I'm going on a baseball tour with 45 other baseball fans with a group called Jay Buckley Tours. Jay's been doing these tours for 25+ years, and I have been lucky enough to go on them since 1996. I met my best friend Scott in 1997 on a tour, and we have been going on them together ever since, seeing close to 40 different ballparks together, every major league city (including two in Canada) and many historic moments. Although ~ I am not sure how any of the moments will compare with the closing of the "House That Ruth Built". I've been there before, been on the outfield track, in the Yankee Dugout, yet there is the unknown about going to the last game. I'm not a Yankee fan by any means, but I am a baseball fan. If you would have told me 5, 10 ,15 years ago I was going to be at the LAST game at Yankee Stadium, I would have bet you $10,000 that was not going to happen, but the time is nearly here.

So, if you will excuse me, I'll be absent from posting stamped cards this week, and instead I will be posting memories from my baseball trip as I can from the hotel computers. We are often in late and out early, but I will post when I can.

If your are curious to see the whole trip itinerary, you can view it HERE

Off to the airport! :)

My Salvation

I finally broke into my SU Pretties Kit that I have been hoarding for 7-8 months. I used the Asela's Flowers for Daisy Set (Gina K Designs) for the sentiment. For the flowers, I colored them in using an Aqua Painter and Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red Re-inkers. I really like the deep color shade. I plan on sending this card to my aunt and uncle.

I'll be on vacation 9/19 through 9/29 so I won't be posting any cards for awhile, see you when I get back!

We Will Never Forget...9/11

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the tragic events that happened on 9/11. Today it still affects me, how I view the world, and how I feel about the brave men and woman that risk their lives everyday to help protect the freedoms I have. I made the card above tonight with Melanie's new set called Just So Sporty. I first stamped the image in whisper white, then stamped the image again on Real Red, I cut out the arms and hood section, and layered it on the whisper white image. The "USA" was created with multiple word stamps from the set (I inked each letter separately). God bless our troops wishing them all a safe trip home back to the USA.
