MFTWSC251 - Gobble Gobble

Hello Hello

Today's card is for My Favorite Things Sketch #251. I used the Pure Innocence Turkey Time image and sentiments for my card.  The pattern paper is from Echo Park (6X6 Getaway Collection). I found it awhile back at hobby lobby when it was 50% off. :) Brown ribbon is SU, and I also used twine from Maya Road. The sentiment tag is also from Stampin Up (remember the tag sheets? Yes, I still have them!)

Here is the inside of my card:

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Hello ~ Hello

Today I am sharing my card for the October Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards (SOTC) Swap. What is the SOTC? We are are bunch of swappers on SCS who participate in a bi-monthly swap. Every other month a new hostess picks a theme, and we have to make 6 cards (identical) of that theme. The hostess swaps out the cards, keeps one for herself, and the participants receive back 5 other cards for that theme!

So Gael is our hostess this month, and our theme is Broadway Shows. I thought about this one for awhile, did some preliminary research, and came up with Meet Me in St. Louis which was on Broadway at the George Gershwin Theater from 1989-1990 for 252 performances. It was nominated for four Tony Awards in 1990.

Originally I was going to do a theme park card.....to go with the World Fair theme, well I found something even more interesting to base my card on, the story behind the song "Have Yourself A Merry Christmas" (which is one of my favorite Christmas songs) comes from the movie/play. The song was written specifically for the script, and the song was performed by Judy Garland during the Christmas scene.

The original lyrics are a bit different than what we are used to hearing:

Have yourself merry little Christmas
It may be your last
Next year we all may be living in the past
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Pop that champaign cork
Next year we all may be living in New York

Judy Garland thought the lyrics were depressing, so her and her co-star Tom Drake asked that the lyrics be revised. Which is how we got the traditional version of the song we know today.

I kept my card fairly simple, as I wanted to focus on the image, which is from MFT Stamps.

Silent Night Album

Hello Hello ~

Today I am sharing a Waterfall Folio Album I made using the October Afternoon Silent Night Collection.  I had purchased the 12X12 pack from Two Peas when they went out of business (loved that web-store) I found this amazing tutorial on Pinterest and decided to try it out last night. The extras I used were the 12X12 Cardstock stickers and the Chip-N-Stick Stickers.  The only modification I made was to add some Washi Tape to the bind, just to give it a little more support.

Here is the inside of the folio:

I think I will make a few more of these, before the holidays.

Falling into Friendships

Hello Hello ~

Here we are already in the middle of October already - where did 2015 go? Hoping your fall has been a good one - filled with pumpkin hunting, football, and beautiful pretty trees...

This month's Darling/Divas Duel is hosted by Judy and Debbie. Our theme is "Falling into Friendships." The theme is to welcome our two newest team members, Suzi, Shelly and Tracie. WELCOME LADIES!

I loved seeing all of the rich colors in this kit - and all the leave die-cuts inspired me to create a fall-colored tree with the image from Memory Box. Here is what the tree originally looked like:

And here is a picture of the finished tree, showing the dimension:

I used mini-gluedots to adhere all the little leaves to the tree. :)

Tutti Fruity

Hello Hello

After a summer break, the Darlings and Divas are back with another duel. It was so nice to have a little break from our Monthly Duel, but I'm excited to get back to our monthly challenge!

Our hostesses this month are Kelly for the Divas, and Jeanette for the Darlings. Since I'm with the Divas, I received Kelly's beautiful kit to play with. Our theme this month is Tutti-Fruity ~ think fall apple-picking trips to the orchards.

The images are from The Alley Way Stamps, paper is from DCWV (The Gilded Orchard Collection ~ this paper is absolutely GORGEOUS).

My card base is 5.5". The original basket image was the same height or a little smaller than the fruit images, so I enlarged it on my copier by 140%. All images were colored with Copics.

Thanks for stoppng by! Hugs ~ LJ

Fabulous Favorites

Hello Hello

Today I am sharing my card for the SCS Sisterhood of Traveling Cards, The SOTC's are a group of crafty friends that participate in a bi-monthly swap on SCS. Each time we swap, we have a different hostess who picks out the theme. Our hostess this time around is Paola, one of our canadian sweeties.  We make six identical cards with the theme chosen, and we receive 5 cards back made from other participants in the group. The hostess gets the 6th card. Here theme is favorites, and we are to include the following favorites on our card (my choices are listed below).

My choices were pretty simple, fall is my favorite season, I love it when the weather is a little cooler, but not cold, and football season starts up, while baseball season gets busy with all of the divisional and wildcard races. Badger Football is only 8 days away, and I can't wait to get back to Camp Randall in a couple of weeks. :)

Season: Fall
Stamp: Football Pure Innocence (MFT)
Colors: Red and White (Badger colors!) and a little neutrals (black and craft) for balance
Accessories: Silver Brads (these have been my "staple" the last 3-4 month. I am constantly using them on cards...

Technique: Copic coloring. I know, it's a basic technique, but I feel like I am still learning. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Can't wait to see what I get back in my swap return!

Patriotic Mojo402

Hello ~ Hello

Today I'm back with a card for this week's MOJO Monday Sketch Challenge.  I bought this really cute stamp set from Taylored Expressions (Rocket's Red Glare) and I'm ashamed to say this is the first time I have used it. It's a really cute set! I also bought the matching dies with the set.  The patterned paper however is new from Taylored Expressions (Summer Nights) . It's a 6X6 pad.  I think I need to order more of it, as I am using it up pretty fast! The colors are so pretty, and the papers can be used for more than just patriotic cards!

Anyhow ~ thanks for stopping by today! Hugs~ LJ

Patriotism Duel!

Hello ~ Hello

Our theme for the Duel between the Darlings and Divas this month is "Patriotism" - which was decided by our hostesses Barb and Terry :) Barb sent the Divas a great red, white and blue kit to plat with, featuring the a Whipper Snapper image (Glory Bee).  I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch for the card layout/design.

I chose to make a square card this time around!

I don't have any specific "Flag Day" memories.....however I found some interesting information on Flag Day I thought I would share - especially since it's specific to my home-state Wisconsin!

Appleton, Wisconsin claims to be the oldest National Flag Day parade in the nation, held annually since

1950. It was also named "Most Patriotic City in America" by AmericaTheBeautiful.com in 2008.

With further research, I found this website about the festivities in Appleton, WI for Flag Day.

I only live two hours from Appleton, so I think this maybe a future "Flag Day" trip for me and my family.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by my blog today! I have been working on another project lately - hope to

share it soon (within the next week)

MFT Sketch 230 - Hay There!

Hey There!

It's been a looooong time since I have done a MFT Challenge! This is being entered in the latest MFT Sketch Challenge.

I used the retired Pure Innocence Farmer Girl Set on my card....I didn't even realize it was retired until now, so I am really happy I got it when I did....(this is the first time I have used her on a card). The patterned paper is from October Afternoon (Farm Girl Collection), Ribbon from American Crafts. I used MFT Die-namics for the banner that the sentiment is stamped on, and the tag die is really old (probably one of the first dies Sizzix made)

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Fun!

Hello Hello

Finally got around to creating (and sharing) this month's duel challenge between the divas and darlings! Carol and April are our June Hostesses & we have a Summer Fun challenge - with a twist - making a 3D project. Carol sent me a 3X3 box to use! I had so much fun putting this one together! I love doing 3D projects! The image is from an older SU! Set - Summertime Fun (one of my favorite sets - that I do not have)  I used nearly all of the pretty patterned paper she sent to cover the box and die-cut some flowers for the top. and I am in love with this striped ribbon she sent!

Here are a few more pictures:

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great summer fun day! Hugs ~ LJ

A Flower For You

Hello Hello - today I am sharing my Dueling Divas & Darlings challenge card for this month, Tami and Melina picked the the theme "I Pick A Flower for You"

I had fun coloring this cute rain girl image ~ she's super adorable. My card base measure's 5.5". I used quite a few embellishments from the kit, and I love the Echo Park paper that Tami picked out for this kit!

Below is the inside of my card - it does coordinate, the photo for the inside came out much brighter for some reason ~ the butterfly punch (my own) is from Martha Stewart.

What's Your Brew?

Hello ~ Hello

Time for another Duel between the Divas and Darlings. Our Diva hostess this month is Kadie! Her and Paola (the Darling hostess) have sent us all Tea/Coffee inspired kits to play with. Kadie sent us two cute images to choose from Art Impressions Cathy Caffeine or MFT Al a Mode You're My Cup of Tea. Of course being a MFT Fan.....I chose that one!

The patterned paper is all from Prima (Coffee Break Collection), Brown ribbon is from A*Muse, and the frame chipboard is from Simple Stories (I Am collection). I used SU! Scallop and Large Oval punches for the sentiment.

I am not much of a coffee or tea drinker.....never have been  (I do love the smell of coffee!).  My beverage of choice these days (especially lately) has been good ole' H20 - water - I been trying to increase my daily intake and decrease my consumption of Diet Mt. Dew .....

Thanks for stopping by today ~ Hugs ~ LJ

Please don't forget to visit the other Divas:

February Duel - Umbrella Day

Hello Hello ~

It's the 15th of the month again, so it's time for another duel between the Divas and Darlings. Darlene is hostessing for the Darlings and I am hostessing for the Divas.....We decided that since February 10th was National Umbrella Day, we would use this as our theme.

I sent the divas some images to play with, one being Sophie from Whipper Snapper Designs. I found her last year when some of the Divas and Darlings got together for a girls weekend :) Hoping we can plan something for the summer..... :) Love ya'll so much!

I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch for my card I really love this sketch! My card base is 5.5" square.

Friend-"Ship"

Hello Hello ~

Today I am sharing a card for a new bi-monthly swap I am in on SplitCoastStampers - Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards.  My friend Barb invited me to become part of this group recently. I'm excited to join yet another friendship through crafting .

Every other month, there is a new hostess and theme. The January/February theme is hosted by Kelly, and the them is to "Get Naught-y". This is what Kelly wrote about the theme:

Indeed that's what we are doing this month - getting *Nautical!* Since most of you know my obsessive love of the ocean, and to get you out of your cold months and winter snow, let's create cards with a nautical theme! Think lighthouses, sailboats, anchors, maps and more, let your creativity flow and your heart 'sail' ♥

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

We use our own stamps, paper, accessories, etc for this swap. I chose an older SU! Set - Boatloads of Fun. I stamped the boat image on cardstock and cut it out. It's been so long since I have used it ~ it was down in the basement where most of my wood-mount SU! sets are now residing. Here are the rest of the supplies I used for my card:

Patterned Paper: Authentique
Accessories: MFT Polaroid Dienamics, Real Red Striped Stampin' Up Ribbon, 3 heart punch (SU!)

Jan2015 Divas vs Darlings: Birthfdays

Hello Hello ~

After taking the month of December off, the Divas and Darlings are back for another year of challenges. Our Diva Hostess this month Judy (and her co-hostess of the month - Debbie) have chosen a Birthday theme.

Judy sent many images for us to play with, but I was in a coloring mood, so I picked out this image from Art Impressions to use for my card. Here is the inside of it:

I do have a recent Birthday memory to share ~ for my 40th Birthday my family threw me a "surprise" Birthday party at a local restaurant in town. It was a great evening as many friends and family came to help celebrate (Actually I could tell something was up when I went to my sisters for awhile, and she changed three times ~ ha). Anyway, as things would have it, 4 months later I moved in next door to the place where I had my 40th Birthday Party :) The owners of the restaurant also own the house next door and I'm their quiet happy tenant :) How often does that happen? LOL. Ok so there's my story. :) and yes I do frequent the place quite often ..... hard not to..... :)

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hugs ~ LJ

MFTWSC210 - Go Pack Go!

Hello Hello

Sharing a card I made yesterday before the Packers/Cowboys playoff game using MFTWSC210 as the sketch. I used the adorable (and one of my favorites) Football PI images. I mixed up patterned paper from a few companies - the green stripes and green banner are from Graphic45 (Good Ole Sport) and the newsprint is from 7Gypsies (Vintage Varsity). The sentiment "Go Pack Go" is from a stamps set by Peachy Keen Stamps (located in Wisconsin of course!). PC has a few Packers-themed sets which I do have in my collection.

Thanks for stopping by! GO PACK GO
