Fall in The Forest Swap

Hello Hello

Today I am sharing my card for Jeanette's Forest in The Fall swap (over on SCS) . The forest swaps have taken on a life of their own in SCS. By far it's been one of the most popular swaps around (this is the 16th Forest Swap)  A lot of it's success is due to our lovely hostess Jeanette (who I have had the honor of meeting ~ such a sweetie).  And some of the sweetest ladies are in the swap, many of who have been swapping since Jeanette's first forest swap in 2009.

Anyway, on to my card. :) I decided to go with a turkey-theme - being that I made these Thanksgiving morning.

Supply list:
Stamps: Gobble Gobble (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Dusty Durango, Brown
Paper: Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, Pool Party Satin Ribbon, button, twine, Word Bubbles Framelits Dies (SU)

MFTWSC Bats About You!

Hello ~ Hello

Today's card is for this week's MFT Sketch challenge. I have been using "Witch Way Is the Candy?" a lot lately. I think it's one of my all-time favorite halloween sets - ever. :)

The pumpkins and bats are stamped with memento tuxedo black ink and colored in with markers. I used the coordinating die-namics to cut the images out (so glad I got these!). The patterned paper is all from Doodlebug Design (Halloween Parade 6X6 pad). I used a spider button from Button It Up. and Black Stitched Ribbon from the Paper Studio.

Halloween Hello

Hello ~ Hello!

It's the 15th of the month so it's time for a another Duel between the Divas and Darlings. This months hostess for the Divas was yours truly :) Terry is this month's Darling hostess and we went with a Halloween Theme this month which is "Eat, Drink, and Be Scary".

The kit I sent included the following:

Stamps & Sentiment: Witch Way is the Candy / My favorite things
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Eerie Collection
Accessories: Recollections die-cut, bling, buttons, candy corn brads, ribbon, Dress it Up buttons

I had quite a bit of fun with this kit - being the hostess I could pick out one of my favorite sets to use :) I recently purchased some new copic markers (cool greys) so I was super excited to get those out and play. :) my card base is 5.50" square.

Here is the inside of my card (using one of my favorite MS Punches)

As a additional challenge, we asked the Divas & Darlings to share your favorite treat to receive if you went trick-or-treating as a child. For me, tootsie rolls and Nestle Crunch were my favorites (and I still LOVE tootsie rolls!)

Do I Cook? Well.....

Hello Hello.....

Our theme for this month's Duel between the Divas is a Recipe Challenge. And that always brings me to think do I even have a recipe? I really don't cook per se. It's one area of domestication I have little experience at. :( However I do have one "true and tested" recipe I use that agrees with my taste buds when I make it. So - I am sharing it this month on my recipe card. It's very simple, partly because I use a pre-boxed pasta salad ~ and just add to it. You can change up the ingredients, for example I have added turkey instead of chicken, and if I have bacon bits or pieces I will add that on top for a little garnish (and flavor). You can also switch up the flavor of the Suddenly Salad (I also like the Bacon Ranch Flavor).

Anyhow - our hostess this month for the Darlings is Barb, and the Divas is Debbie. I loved Barb's kit she sent! The paper is from Jillibean Soup (such a cute collection!) I didn't end of the images ~ Just couldn't make it work.

Dueling Darlings Challenge

Hello Hello

Today I am sharing my card for this month's Dueling Darlings challenge. Carol and Melina are the hostesses for the divas and dazzlers.

The theme for this month is "Friends are the Family We Choose for Ourselves. The Divas and Darlings have been together as friends and challenge buddies for the last four years - so we are celebrating our beautiful friendships with each other!

Carol's package this month was full of purple! :) So I had to go out of my "comfort zone". I chose to use just a sentiment on this card, as I thought the sentiment was so perfect in defining our friendships :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs ~ LJ

Hello Hello ~

Stopping by quick with this month's Dueling Divas/Darlings Card Challenge. This month's kit is from Tami and she sent Gardening Riley for our In the Garden theme. :) I love the warm colors.

I am not much of a gardener - so I don't have any tips to share. :( Sorry. I honestly do not know much about gardening, except that Peony bushes need to be trimmed every spring (I trimmed them at my parents place a couple of months ago - ha!)

2014 SCS Kit Swap #1

Hello ~ Hello

Today I have a card to share from my card kit swap over on SCS hosted by Jeanette (Forest Ranger). This is kind of like a round robin swap. Below is a short explanation of the what the swap entails:
  • There are 11 of us in the group (myself included)
  • Each month, we send a card kit to the person designated for that month (my month is May - so I receive kits from the other 10 in the group during May, and each of the other months, I send one kit out to whatever has that particular month)
  • The recipient of the kits uses the contents of each card kit to create at least one project and post it to their blog and/or SCS Gallery.
Since May is my month, I have been receiving a lot of fun kits in the mail! :) This card was created from the very first card kit (I am trying to do them in order)  I received - from Tami - including some really cute cupcake images from Studio G Stamps! Thanks Tami!

Here is the inside of my card:

Love is in the air (still!)

It's time for our February Duel ~ Here's what Barb sent us about the details for this month's kit:

Hello Darlings—welcome to our February Challenge.

I (this is Barb) am writing this sheet of instructions for myself to all of the Divas and also for Debbie for all of the Dazzlers. Our theme for February 15th is Feel the Love!

With the post being the day after Valentine’s Day, we wanted the love to continue for another day……………………..

Debbie has stamped the sentiment The Fruit is the Spirit of Love for both teams to use. She is not sure of the company who made the stamp as the name is blurred on the wood. You must use the sentiment on your card, but you also can add any image of your choosing if you want. The sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Brown along with Stampin’ Up Real Red

I absolutely loved this month's kit - there was so much pretty red and pink in the kit. Everything Barb sent (which was a lot) was so beautifully coordinated.

I gave this card to my mom and dad for Valentine's Day last night when we went out to dinner. It was the perfect card for them!

Unidentified Image Swap

Hello ~ Hello

Here is my card for the 11th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  I love the Snoopy image that was provided this month by Jody! So cute!

Jody asked us to use our own sentiment on our cards, I found a 12X12 sheet of bingo type cards on a grid and thought they would be really cute with this image. All of the patterned paper is from October Afternoon, and I used some SU! Ribbon and Basic Grey brads to finish it off.

Choose Hope

Hello ~ Hello

It's the 15th of the month again and time for this month's duel. This month's hostess is Carol and our theme is "Angels". She sent us a couple of adorable angel images to choose from and a really pretty pastel themed kit.

My life lately has been full of angels watching over my family as we continue to "Chose Hope" and while my dad continues to fight a courageous battle with cancer. It's never easy for anyone to deal with on an emotional or physical level. Each person reacts differently to the challenges it brings. However what we do know, is that nobody can be get through it without "angels" along the way, including family, friends close and far away, medical personnel,  and other angels who show up when you least expect them. It might be shoveling snow or it sometimes it's just a quick, "hang in there" when you are in a valley, or an "wonderful" when you are at a peak. Because of my dad's will to fight and angels,  I continue to "Choose Hope" while we go through this chapter in our life.

Much gratitude and thanks to those "angels" that have been there the last 6 months. I'm truly blessed to have the support I have in my life, through the good times and bad.

Thanks so much for stopping by today ~ much love to you all ~ LJ
