Best Friends.....

Hello, todays card I made for the 3/18 Sketch Challenge over on StampTV, and I also made this card for 2CuteCats Nestabilites swap over on SCS. I used Warm & Fuzzy (Gina K Designs) for the image and sentiment. The DP is retired from SU (so wish they would bring back Baja Breeze and Pacific Point back!) I used Circle & Blossom Two Nestabilities with this card. When I was at CHA in January I got 4 flower Nestabilities sets for $50! Now that spring is coming, I really want to start using them.

Have a great Monday!

Crazy 4 Challenges

Hello ~ Happy Weekend! This card was made for the 3/13 Crazy 4 Challenges Blog Challenge (say that 5 times real fast LOL!) which was to make a masculine card. This card was made using an image and sentiment from "Are We There Yet?" from Gina K Designs (designed by Rupa Shevde). The DP is from the Basic Grey Archaic Collection.

Hidden Message Card

Hello, back on 12/15, I posted a card with a hidden message HERE. Today I received a request to show how I made the the card. I didn't use a tutorial per se, I had just learned how to make one a long time ago at one of my first SU! Workshops, so I was remembering from what I learned then. This is my attempt at a tutorial, so bear with me :) and I hope those that are interested understand, and if you don't please as a question in the comments and I'll edit the post to reflect anything that I've missed.

The completed card is above (message hidden) and below (message showing) I inked up another one of my new Pure Innocence images from MFT (4-Leaf Clover). The girl's outfit was paper-pieced, the rest of the image was colored in.

So here are the pieces needed to complete the hidden message card:

  • Tag - Wild Wasabi Piece is 3.5" by 1.5" wide, however the length can vary depending on how long your top panel is. I used the SU! Tab punch for the blue handle. The thin piece that makes the "T" is about 1/2" by 3". That holds the tag in place when you pull it out.
  • Wild Wasabi polka-dot base - 4" X 5.25" - punched about 1" in with the SU! Horizontal Slot punch. You need to punch it far enough in so that the top panel (image) will cover it up, and that there is room on the end for it to hang out.
  • Navy Layer - 4.25" X 5.5" - standard card size. Note this is not a folding card. That's the base of the card. You could make it a folding card if you wanted to though!
  • Image Panel - the Navy Panel is approx 2.5" X 3.75" . You can make it wider than 2.5" but I would not make it any "taller" than 3.75".
  • Optional: Instead of ribbon, you could add a pocket to the left of the image for a money holder. I didn't do it this time, but if you would like to see what it would look like, my 12/15/2009 blog post shows this

Assembling the card once you have the pieces cut is pretty simple, first, slide the tag into the slot. It's easier to do from the back side, see 2nd picture below. The blue tag handle (or whatever color you choose) should be on the right side of the front of the card. Next, with the tag adhere the green panel to the navy base. I used adhesive on the top, bottom and left side of the green panel (do not put any adhesive in the middle of the panel, as it will make the tag "stick" and not slide out. Once it's adhered to the Navy panel, Close your tag, and then add the top image panel so that it covers up the slot. The result is the first two images in this post.

Sketch Challenges

Hello, been a busy weekend with one of my best friends in town but I wanted to share a few sketch challenge cards I completed this weekend. The first one (above) is for the Artful Inkables Sketch Challenge over on their blog. I don't have any of their stamps so I used an image I recently bought from my favorite things. I love these Pure Innocence images, this one is called Fairy Girl. The sentiment is from Stampin Up!.

My second challenge card uses another MFT Pure Innocence girl, this one is called Happy Mail. I paper pieced her dress (well, it's just one pattern LOL). The DP is retired from SU (Jersey Shore - one of my all time favorites). This sketch is for the KLSNS Sketch Challenge over on their blog.

Thanks for looking!

Late Challenge

Hello ~

Been taking a little break from blogging lately, as I've been working on a big project recently (of which I hopefully will be able to share sometime). But I wanted to share a card I made for last week's StampTV Color challeng which was to only use Pink and White for colors. I made this card using Rupa's "Oh Baby" set (Gina K Designs). The pink polka-dot dp is from October Afternoon, "Ducks In A Row". I love this paper collection. I stamped the image on white, and the DP, cut them out and then adhered them to the white layer.

Thanks for looking!

Bring On Spring!

Ok, I'll admit it (along with over half of the rest of the country probably!) I'm sick of winter, and that includes the snow, ice, snowmen (yes, snowmen ~ they are cute and all, but they are snow!), the slipping and sliding, worrying about how late the buses are going to run, etc. Ok done venting! Much better! LOL! Happy March! If your still reading this post (which you must be if you are reading this) thanks for letting me vent! :)

On to my card for today, which I am actually super excited about. I colored Tilda (Magnolia) over the weekend, not knowing really what I was going to use her for. I was playing with some new Copic Sketch markers I got over the weekend (E00, YRoo, & R02 for skin tones). Magnolias are perfect images for playing with skin tone color. So I was also looking through the list of challenges I had written down over the weekend tonight, and I thought I could combine these two challenges together:
For the texture challenge, my textures were the purple-white dotted DP (the white dots are raised), the Sage Shadow panel (which I ran thru the cuttlebug with the Candy Cane Stripe Embossing Folder), and of course the pretty lavender ribbon from PTI. If you want to count one more, the bling (Kaisercrafts) might "work" (you can rub your finger over it for a nice feeling ~ LOL)

No more winter cards from me, I'm all ready for spring! Now, back to putting those heavy sweaters away.....
